Lesson Learned

My tennis career has been like a roller-coaster. There have been ups, downs, twists, turns, it’s gone forward and backwards. I am the person I am today because of tennis. Tennis has taught me to be humble, but confident, pressure is a privilege, and to never ever, ever give up.

Growing up I would say tennis came very natural to me. Tennis was always easy. I would work hard but sometimes I didn’t have to work as hard because it was easy. I would defiantly say I took advantage of my natural abilities.

Weekend after weekend, tournament after tournament I was winning. I might of lost here and their but for the most part I was winning. Then I started to get older. Things weren’t as easy as they used to be. I found myself losing weekend after weekend, tournament after tournament. Winning made me very cocky. After I started to lose more and more I began to be very negative, I didn’t respect the game as I should, I was so used to winning that when I started losing I would just give up.

My coaches taught me that nobody is going to feel bad for me. “You have to work.

Things aren’t just going to be handed to you on a silver platter” they said. They were right. I was acting very selfish. Tennis has taught me to be humble, but confident, pressure is a privilege, and to never ever, ever give up.
